New Wooleen Camping Facilities!

For anyone who may have visited Wooleen Station on a camping trip may have had a wonderful time but left feeling that maybe the bathroom facilities could be just a little better. Well never fear! Wooleen has just finished installing its new toilets and showers. And to go with them…. a brand spanking new electric hot water system that will make you scream (as we were previously told by a guest that “Yes there was hot water, but it wouldn’t make you scream”)

We also have 3 new sinks for washing up anything you like, in fact you could probably get in them and do a few laps if you wanted!

Our camp kitchen has got a stove, plenty of utensils and space for chopping up all your dinner needs.

Please come along and test it all out. We hope to see you soon!

Just a quick one, I see that you have unpowered sites and list camping and caravans.

I have been advised that its not a good idea to take a caravan on the dirt, especially if it a non off roader/non dirt roader type unit. Please advise your thoughts on being safe on that road with a caravan,

      Hi Barry
Thanks for reading the blog and sending through your questions.
We do have many caravans come to visit us and manage it quiet safely. However I couldn’t really adivse on what type they are, if yours is specifically made to be a non-off roader then I wouldn’t recommend taking it on the dirt. Our roads are always well maintained by the Shire of Murchison and are very easy to travel on. I would try and seek further adivce from others with a similar unit.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance!

    Hi Frances,
We’re planning a road trip to Mt Augustus preferably via Wooleen but only have a Toyota Camry 2WD station wagon. Which roads are ok for 2WD’s?
    Cheers,
    Paul

      Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting in contact. Just about every road is ok for 2WD to Mt Augustus. I suggest following the Woolwagon Pathway and the Kingfordsmith mail Run as I know this roads are ok. You will need to watch out for any dips in the road however these are sign posted. Please be aware that its difficult to get fuel at the moment as the Gascoyne Pub/Fuel washed away in the floods. The Shire has started plans to build a new one. You will need to plan your trip carefully and always carry some spare tyres. If you need more info on the pathways go to http://www.outbackpathways.com.au
      Cheers
      Frances
